Tibetan Medicine
Traditional Tibetan Medicine, or Sowa Rigpa, has been practised in Himalayan countries for well over 1000 years.
Between the 8th and 13th centuries Tibet evolved a unique medical science, absorbing and integrating teachings from Indian Ayurvedic, Chinese, Persian, Mongolian and Greek medicine into an indigenous Tibetan practice.
Traditional Tibetan Medicine employs many different techniques and uses a holistic approach to health and well-being, considering constitutional, dietary, psychological, environmental and lifestyle factors. It uses diagnostic methods such as in-depth questioning, pulse and tongue analysis to determine the root cause of imbalance and inform a treatment plan.
